Fred Gingell, was a person who stuttered and was a member of the Provincial legislature for several decades, passed away in 1999. He was instrumental in helping BCAPS establish this yearly support program in 1996. BCAPS felt it would be a fitting memorial and tribute to a man who was an inspiration, mentor and friend, to have the Ministry of Health name their treatment support program after him.
BCAPS FUNDING
BCAPS has limited funds available to those with a demonstrated need to obtain stuttering therapy and who are in need of financial assistance to attend speech therapy clinics in British Columbia, operated by qualified speech language pathologists.
