Fred Gingell,
was a person who stuttered and was a member of the Provincial legislature
for several decades, passed away in 1999. He was instrumental in helping
BCAPS establish this yearly support program in 1996. BCAPS felt it would
be a fitting memorial and tribute to a man who was an inspiration, mentor
and friend, to have the Ministry of Health name their treatment support
program after him.
Note: The Federal
Employment Insurance department and the BC Ministry of Social Services,
are two other possible sources of funding for people who stutter. Contact
those offices for more information |
